Departmental activities started with counseling and admission of the students in the current academic session 2011-2012. Department of Computer Science has undertaken various activities as given below.

Guest Lecture

Department conducts Guest Lectures by frequently inviting professionals, subject specialists, eminent educationists, etc. from academic field and corporate world to broaden the outlook of the students for a successful career. Having a guest speaker is an excellent way to provide current, realistic expertise on a critical topic, as well as increase the perceived value students receive from your class.

A Guest lecture on “Role of Security in IT Industry” was organized on 26/08/2011. The lecture was delivered by Mr. Prashant Tiwari, Director, Appin Technology, Bhopal. Appin Security Group is a global Information Security company focused on training, consulting and solutions.

When information is not adequately protected, it may be compromised and this is known as an information or security breach. The consequences of an information breach are severe. Confidentiality, integrity and availability are the three predominant principles of information protection. Compromising these principles leaves systems in jeopardy. Hence to create awareness amongst students to secure their data this lecture was organized.

Workshops and Seminars

The workshop is the vehicle by which a student learns the "know how" of performing. It is a class in which the student acquires performance experience with guidance from the teacher in a non-formal atmosphere.

· A workshop organized on “PC Assembling and Networking” for the students of BCA and BSc on 18th November 2011 by Mr. Bhupendra Kapoor Jetking, Bhopal. Jetking is India's leading hardware and networking institute that provides training in computer hardware and networking.

  • A PC Assembling and Networking workshop provided an instructional environment in which students learnt how to modify, repair or assemble computer hardware. Today computer is available in many offices and homes and therefore there is a need to share data and programs among various computers. With the advancement of data communication facilities the communication between computers has increased and thus it has extended the power of computer beyond the computer room. Now a user sitting at one place can communicate with computers of any remote site through communication channel. The aim of this lesson is to introduce you the various aspects of computer network. The workshop also helped participants learn how to test computer equipment efficiency.
  • Seminars are basically arranged to discuss current issues and problems or to share ideas. Seminars are capable of keeping the students updated with the technologies. Seminars provide latest information about the things which are happening in science and technology.

A seminar organized on “Spectrographic Analysis of IT Industries” was conducted by Mr. Amit K. Shrivastava and Mr. Saurav from HCL Career Development Centre, Bhopal. The objective of this seminar was not only to increase the awareness amongst students for recent technologies but also to make them aware about the job opportunities available in the IT Industry. Also to encourage them to learn those technologies, by which they can easily get better jobs in IT sector.

Internship and Live Projects

The purpose of an internship is to provide a meaningful  learning   experience  for   the students. Participating in an internship is an important  experience  to  complement  the learning  that  our  student  is  doing in the classroom. An internship gives a student an opportunity  to  “audition”  a  job or a field before taking a permanent position. Similarly live project has become the  prior  need for  software  development.  The  graduate students are given an opportunity to work on live project which will add importance to their career.

The students of B. C. A. V semester and B.Sc. V semester have developed softwares for different organizations. In addition to above, the students of third semesters of B. C. A. and B.Sc. have developed projects for various organizations.

Extra-curricular Activities

The primary goals of extracurricular activities focus on the individual student level, and the broader community level. These activities exist to complement the student's educational experience. By working together with other individuals, students learn to negotiate, communicate, manage conflict, and lead others. Taking part in these out-of-the-classroom activities helps students to understand the importance of critical thinking skills, time management, and academic and intellectual competence. Keeping this objective in mind the department organizes various extra curricular activities through out the year.

  • International Literacy Day is an annual reminder of a fundamental inequality in our globalizing world: almost one in every seven people is illiterate. • A person who helps in shaping our life from our childhood days, a person who wipes our tears and makes us smile, teaches us, scolds us, plays with us and helps us overcome our fears is a teacher. These are the people specially made by god to look after his small wonders.
