National Seminar
The National Seminar was organized by the Department of Botany on 4-5th Feb. 2010. The topic of the seminar was “Green technologies for environment management and sustainable development”. This seminar was divided in to four technical sessions

Within the technical sessions the “Young Scientist Paper Presentation Competition” was held and cash prizes were distributed to the paper presenters.

 

Hundred delegates from near about 20 colleges from all over India attended this seminar. Besides 100 more participants including Research scholars & Students attended this seminar.

Topic of the Seminar was well appreciated. Various methods of green technologies for the conservation of environment were discussed. It led to the conclusion that proper utilization of green technologies can led to conserve environment.



Guest Lecture
Guest lecture was organized by Department of Botany on 17th Aug 2010, for UG & PG classes on the topic “Career options in Life sciences”. Guest lecturer was Dr. Tasneem Ahmed, Coordinator, Blossom Pharma Biotech Institute & Research Center, Bhopal.

 

Botanical Trip
Local Botanical trip was organized on 18th Jan. 2011. A team of 55 students of UG & PG Botany led by HOD & other staff members visited Bhojpur, Bhimbetika. Students gained knowledge of Angiospermic flora and local plant diversity. In addition to this, students gained knowledge of History.

 

Workshop on Bonsai Techniques:
Workshop on Bonsai techniques is a regular practice of the Department of Botany. This year the workshop on Bonsai techniques was conducted by Department of Botany from 5th - 6th Oct. 2010. About 50 students of B.sc. and M.sc. (Botany, Biotechnology, Microbiology and Biochemistry) from different colleges attended this workshop.

The resource persons were Mrs. Upkar Rajoriya, President Bonsai Society of M.P.

Dr. Santosh Chaudhary, Eye Specialist Kataju Hospital Bhopal & an expert of Bonsai.

Mr. Anil Verma, founder member of Bonsai Society of Raipur, chattisgarh.

Workshop was very fruitful for all the participants.

In the technical session different points related to bonsai were discussed and bonsai pots were prepared.

Topic of the workshop was well appreciated; project reports were made by students.

 

Workshop on Mushroom Cultivation

Mushroom culture and cultivation workshop was organized by the Department of Botany on 25th -26th Nov. 2010. This workshop was conducted for students of UG & PG. Resource person was Dr. Shagufta Khan, Director Grow tip Biotech Institutes, Bhopal.
